Wild Ones – The holidays are upon us, with two weeks until Christmas it’s time to discuss a few of our favorite vintage Christmas items
Vintage Ceramic Christmas Trees – As kids most of us remember grandma having one of these (or in many cases, several) in their home. They bring back nostalgia for our childhood. They can range from cute, kitschy, to stunningly gorgeous – That’s the best thing about them, almost all of them were handcrafted in ceramics class, where folks sat around making them their personal style. We’ve had ones dating to the mid 1950’s through the 1980’s – Sometimes you will find them with the mold mark (most popular was Atlantic Mold) and occasionally you will find them signed and dated. Below are a few we currently have in stock.

Vintage Christmas Ornaments – Ranging from traditional antique ornaments to vintage Shiny Brite ornaments, these run the gamut from classic to over the top retro kitsch. Our favorites are the ones from 1940’s to the 1960’s. Starting with Shiny Brites made during World War II that are unsilvered and continuing to the post-war atomic era styling – These are what most people think of when they think vintage Christmas. Most are reasonably priced (almost all of ours are $5 each or 5 for $20), and fairly easily found – The most difficult thing about them is not wanting to keep all of them!
Vintage Blow Molds – If you’ve followed us for a while, you know we’re obsessed with all things vintage blow mold – Whether Halloween, Christmas, or any other category. These started in the late 1950’s/early 1960’s with blow molded plastic technology being applied to housewares and seasonal decorations. These range from tabletop size (10″ to 16″ tall) to full on almost life sized. Companies like Poloron and Beco are some of the earliest manufacturers, and companies like Empire and General Foam followed shortly after. Of all the blow mold seasonal decorations out there, the most prolific are the Christmas, as these have been made in one fashion or another since the late 1950’s.
